THE TWENTY FOUR ELDERS
THE COUNCIL OF THE HOLY ONES
OLD TESTAMENT
PSALM 89:7a (TPT) “You are a God who is greatly to be feared as You preside over the council of the holy ones.”
PSALM 89:7 (NASB) “A God greatly feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all those who are around Him?”
PSALM 111:1 (TPT) “May every one of His lovers hear my passionate praise to Him, even among the council of the holy ones.”
In these verses the word “council” is “sode” in the Hebrew. It means=assembly, circle of familiar friends, a secret council, intimacy with God.
The word “holy” is the Hebrew word “Kodosh”, which means=sacred, holy, Holy One, saint, set apart.
NEW TESTAMENT
REVELATION 7:11 (NKJV) “All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God…”
REVELATION 7:13 An Elder asks John a question, and then answers it for John
REVELATION 4:4,10; 5:6, 8, 9; 7:10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17; 11:16, 17; 14:3;19:4
These verses speak of worshiping, falling before Him, throwing down their crowns, holding the harp and golden bowls of the prayers of the Saints, see the Lamb, they sang a new song when it is announced that Jesus is worthy to open the seals.
