Have you ever stopped to think about the people we meet without ever actually meeting them?
It is one of the curious things about this online world. We come here to receive Father’s words, His LOVE, all that He has to offer us, to be comforted knowing that He is always with us especially during these turbulent times, and to express our love in return. We come here to read, to write, to share our thoughts, tell our stories, exchange ideas, and perhaps even escape for a little while from the dishes in the sink or the laundry that seems to multiply when we aren't looking.

And somewhere along the way, something rather wonderful happens.
We become a community. We begin to recognize familiar names. We look forward to reading what others have to say. Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we learn, sometimes we disagree, and occasionally we find ourselves thinking about someone's words long after we have left the iphone/computer. Who would have thought that a collection of words on a screen could make us feel connected to people we may never meet face-to-face?
    Yet here we are.
Each person brings something different to this little corner of the world. Some share wisdom gathered over a lifetime. Some tell stories that make us smile. Some have a wonderful gift for humor, while others offer thoughtful observations that encourage us to see things from another perspective. Some write a great deal, and others may say very little. Some are comfortable putting their thoughts into words, while others may simply enjoy reading what everyone has to say. And all of that is okay.
We don't have to be the loudest voice in the room to belong. We don't have to write the longest post, offer the cleverest response, or come up with something profound every time we put our fingers to the keyboard. (If that were a requirement, some of us might have to retire before we even got started!)
Sometimes, simply being here is enough.

We may never know who is reading quietly, who has been having a difficult day, or who has found a little comfort in something someone shared. We may never know when a kind comment arrived at precisely the right moment or when a bit of humor brought a much-needed smile. That is the remarkable thing about kindness. It doesn't always announce itself, and it doesn't always know the good it has done. A few encouraging words may seem like a small thing to the person who writes them. To the person who receives them, they may mean a great deal.
And the same is true of patience, understanding, a willingness to listen, and the simple act of acknowledging another person's thoughts. These gestures remind us that there is a human being on the other side of the screen—someone with hopes, memories, worries, experiences, and a life that is just as real as our own.
Of course, we won't always agree. We have different backgrounds, different experiences, different opinions, and different ways of looking at the world. Heaven help us if we all thought alike! Conversations might become terribly predictable, and we would have to find something else to disagree about.
But differences need not divide us. They can give us opportunities to learn, to reflect, and to discover the value in another person's point of view. And when we do disagree, a little kindness can go a long way toward keeping the conversation worthwhile.
